If you have a car that does not have a hood ornament, you may be thinking about adding one. Or, maybe you have a hood ornament that is damaged or missing. In either case, this guide will show you how to put a hood ornament on a car.

Step One: Preparing the Car

Before beginning any work on your car, it is important to consult the ownerufffds manual. Many newer cars have special instructions for removing and installing Hood Ornaments and it is important to follow these to avoid damaging your car. If your car does not have special instructions, you can follow the general steps below.

1. Park the car on a level surface and set the parking brake.

2. Place a block behind each of the rear tires to prevent the car from rolling while you are working.

3. Pop the hood and locate the retaining nut that secures the Hood Ornament to the car. In most cases, this will be located in the center of the hood, but it may be offset to one side.

4. Use a wrench or socket to remove the retaining nut and set it aside in a safe place.

5. Gently pull the Hood Ornament away from the car and set it aside.

6. Clean the area where the Hood Ornament was mounted with a clean cloth to remove any dirt or debris.

Step Two: Attaching the Ornament

Assuming you have already chosen and purchased an appropriate hood ornament for your car, the next step is attaching it. Most hood ornaments come with two screws for attaching to the hood.

1. Find a level spot on the hood to position your ornament. It should be straight, not tilted to one side.

2. With a drill or screwdriver, attach the first screw into the pre-drilled hole on the underside of the ornament base. Do not overtighten, as this could strip the threads or damage the finish of your hood ornament.

3. Repeat step 2 for the second screw.

4. That’s it! Your new hood ornament is now in place and ready to show off to your friends and neighbors.

Step Three: Securing the Ornament

After you have chosen and positioned your hood ornament, it is time to secure it to your car. Most hood ornaments come with a set of screws and nuts that you will use to attach it to the hood. If your ornament does not come with these, you can purchase them at any hardware store.

Before you begin, make sure that the area around where you will be attaching the ornament is clean and free of any dirt or debris. Then, using the screws and nuts, attach the ornament to the hood, being careful not to overtighten and strip the threads.

Step Four: Finishing Up

Now that the ornament is in place, it’s time to finish up. Check the ornament to make sure it’s secure, and then put the hood of your car back on. Once the hood is in place, you’re all set!

Tips and Tricks

Depending on the car, you may or may not need to remove the front grille in order to access the mounting bolts for the hood ornament. It is generally easiest to work with the grille removed, but if your car has a decorative grille that cannot be removed, you will need to be extra careful not to damage it. Always consult your car’s owner’s manual before beginning any work on your vehicle.

If you do need to remove the grille, first locate the bolts or clips that hold it in place. Once you have found all of the fasteners, use a socket wrench or screwdriver to remove them. With the fasteners removed, the grille should come off easily. If it does not, gently pry it loose with a putty knife or flathead screwdriver.

Once you have access to the mounting bolts for the hood ornament, use a socket wrench to loosen and remove them. carefully lift the hood ornament off of the mounting studs and set it aside. To install the new hood ornament, simply reverse these steps.Place the new hood ornament over the studs and hand-tighten the mounting bolts before tightening them with a socket wrench. Finally, reinstall the front grille (if applicable).

There are many different ways that you can put a hood ornament on a car. You can use adhesive, screw it in, or weld it on. Each method has its own set of pros and cons, so you’ll need to decide which is right for you.

Adhesive: Adhesive is the easiest and quickest way to install a hood ornament. However, it’s not the most secure, so if you’re worried about your hood ornament coming off, this might not be the best option for you.

Screwing it in: Screwing in your hood ornament is more secure than using adhesive, but it does take a little more time and effort. You’ll need to drill a hole in your hood for the screw to go into.

Welding it on: Welding is the most secure way to attach a hood ornament, but it’s also the most difficult. If you’re not comfortable welding, this probably isn’t the best option for you.
